Now that Vancouver has the 2010 Olympics where do we go from here ?
Who will keep an independent eye on the activities of the organising committees, sponsors, environment, contracted workers and many other aspects of the games ?

Re: Liberals spurn auditor-general's proposal, Vaughn Palmer, Sept. 16

The decision to appoint an auditor for the 2010 Olympic Games will be made by the organizing committee for the Games and will be determined on a fair, competitive basis.

The auditor general is automatically the auditor of the financial statements of the provincial government and legislation allows him to ensure the spending of provincial funds remains accountable. We look forward to the auditor general's continued interest in the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

The provincial government is committed to being fiscally accountable to British Columbians. The 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games are no exception.
